Red Wine monovarietal crafted by Bodegas Montecillo, with more than 140 years of experience, made from 95% Tempranillo, 5% Graciano grapes. This wine belongs to the D.O.Ca. Rioja, Rioja Alta. This wine comes from bush-trained vineyard plots on poor soils with sandy texture in the Rioja Alta area, with an average age exceeding 35 years and yields not exceeding 5,500 kg/ha. The grapes are harvested with utmost care and transported to the winery in small containers. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature of 28°C, with prior bleeding and long maceration of three weeks in contact with the skins.
Aging in French and American oak barrels (90%-10%) for 28 months and subsequent bottle aging for at least 4 years. The optimal serving temperature for this wine is 18°C.
