Pio Crianza

Pío del Ramo presents us with the Pío Crianza Red Wine from the Jumilla Designation of Origin (Spain), crafted from Monastrell, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties. This wine is an example of the winery’s certified organic viticulture, cultivated on calcareous and sandy soils for Syrah and Monastrell, and with a higher proportion of clay for Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Monastrell is cultivated in bush vine style, while the rest of the varieties are grown on trellis systems, thus optimizing sun exposure and fruit quality.

The production of Pío Crianza follows a classic blend adapted to Jumilla’s climate, characterized by cold winters, hot summers and scarce rainfall.

The harvest is completely manual, with meticulous selection of grapes both in the vineyard and at the winery.

Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by maceration for 15 to 20 days, which allows maximum extraction of aromas and color. Subsequently, the wine is aged for a minimum of 10 months in American and French oak barrels, combining new barrels with second and third-year ones, which provides complexity and balance. On tasting, Pío Crianza presents a deep red color with violet hues.

On the nose, it displays intense aromas of ripe red fruits, spiced notes and a subtle touch of vanilla and cocoa from the wood aging.

On the palate, it is a structured wine, with soft and elegant tannins, good acidity and a long finish that invites continued enjoyment. Its balanced character makes it ideal for pairing with red meats, traditional stews, aged cheeses or even game dishes. This wine reflects Pío del Ramo’s philosophy of combining tradition and respect for the environment, offering an authentic and unique experience of Jumilla’s terroir.
