Enrique Mendoza Las Quebradas

The Red Wine Enrique Mendoza Las Quebradas from Bodegas Enrique Mendoza presents this red wine from the D.O. Alicante, created from 100% Monastrell grape varieties. It is made from a single vineyard located in the “Las Quebradas” area in Villena, situated 500 meters above sea level and with unique “edaphological” (soil) characteristics that make it unique. It has an aging period of 15 months in French oak barrels. “Las Quebradas” Vineyard The vineyard lives on bedrock and the soils are stony “caliche stone” and poor in organic matter. It is a traditional vineyard with 1500 plants per hectare trained in bush vines and without any irrigation support. Fertilization is done with organic sheep compost. It is viticulture where we work with the zero residue concept, meaning it has never received herbicides or systemics and of course no insecticides, we only work with sulfur powder, copper, biological control for moths and great awareness. Alicante In the province of Alicante, the influence of the Mediterranean Sea is very characteristic, whose sea breezes circulate through the mountain corridors created by the Natural Park of Carrascal de la Font Roja and the Protected Landscape of Sierra del Maigmó that provide greater freshness to the leaf surface. In the province there are two zones with very different climates and soils: The Mediterranean coast, whose sea breezes exert great influence over the vineyards of coastal municipalities. And another inland zone in the Alto Vinalopó region, with altitudes of over 600 meters above sea level, where sea breezes also arrive with great influence through natural mountain corridors. In this Alicante pre-plateau zone we find mature vineyards on soils with high presence of limestone pebbles, crust, stones and sands.
