The Red Wine Marqués de Riscal Reserva Magnum from Bodegas Marqués de Riscal presents this red wine from the D.O.Ca. Rioja, made from 93% Tempranillo and 7% Graciano grape varieties. Highly versatile and a faithful representative of a Rioja wine, Marqués de Riscal Reserva has been enjoyed by generations of wine lovers around the world and praised by personalities from art and culture, including Ernest Hemingway, Salvador Dalí and Frederick Forsyth. Marqués de Riscal reservas are made primarily from grapes from Tempranillo vines planted before the 1970s, located on the best clay-limestone soils of Rioja Alavesa. This variety handles oak aging and bottle aging well thanks to its good acid balance and fine tannicity. The Graciano variety, whose percentage in the blend does not exceed 10%, provides freshness and color vibrancy. Production: Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 26°C with maceration time not exceeding 12 days. Riscal reservas remain approximately two years (24 months) in American oak barrels, creating a wine that fits within the canons of Rioja classicism: fresh, fine, elegant and with great aging potential. Before reaching the market it has a minimum bottle aging period of one year. Optimal serving temperature: Between 16 and 18°C. Bodegas Marqués de Riscal: The history of Bodegas Marqués de Riscal is the history of an innovative, pioneering company that serves as a reference in a wine sector in continuous transformation. The winery was founded in 1858 by Guillermo Hurtado de Amézaga. In 1862 its first wines were bottled, thus becoming the oldest bottled wines of Rioja. A few years after its founding, the winery began to rapidly win numerous awards, but one of the most important came in 1895, when Marqués de Riscal became the first non-French wine to achieve the Diploma of Honor at the Bordeaux Exhibition. In 1972 Marqués de Riscal began production of the first white wines from Rueda and, in recent years, the winery has dared to incorporate two new denominations into the project, V.T. Castilla y León and D.O. Getariako Txakolina. For those who want to explore the winery’s history from its founding to today with the possibility of enjoying Marqués de Riscal wines, in 2006 La Ciudad del Vino was inaugurated, which today features a hotel designed by famous Canadian architect Frank O. Gehry.
