With 100% Merlot grape variety, this wine stands out for its density and complexity, resulting from select Merlot vines planted in the winery’s oldest vineyard. The Merlot vines, carefully cultivated since 1987, give rise to exceptional grapes of reduced size, an indispensable requirement to achieve the intensity and complexity characteristic of this Merlot.

The 2016 harvest, marked by a warm and dry climate, has provided exceptional abundance and richness to this wine.

Manual harvesting of grapes in 20 kg boxes ensures the selection of the ripest and highest quality grapes. After a two-week maceration in wooden vats, the wine is transferred mainly to new French oak barrels, where it will rest and mature for 36 months. After a rigorous selection process, the best barrels have been bottled with light filtration, to offer a wine of exceptional quality and distinction. The Venta d’Aubert Merlot presents itself with an intense dark red color, captivating at first sight.

On the nose, it displays a wide range of aromas that evoke dark forest fruits, blackberries, violets and black pepper.

On the palate, it delights with its surprising richness and intensity. Flavors of wild cherries, sour cherries, sloes and subtle notes of eucalyptus and mint provide a refreshing touch to the wine. With its current tannic structure and pleasant acidity, this Merlot distinguishes itself as an elegant and supremely balanced wine, leaving a persistent sensation on the palate. Personally, we recommend pairing this wine with a succulent piece of meat, such as Rib-Eye, T-Bone or Côte de Boeuf, to enhance its flavors and textures.
