Bodegas Arrayán presents us with the Arrayán de Garnacha Rosé Wine, originating from Méntrida, Toledo, made 100% from Garnacha Peluda. Awards: 92 points. Decanter World Awards. 90 points. Guía Peñín. 89 points. Robert Parker. The Arrayán de Garnacha Rosé Wine is delicate and with great balance to discover a new world of sensations through this suggestive and minority variety. An authentic rarity of Garnacha Peluda, an almost disappeared grape, it is a native variety from Castilla La Mancha, recovered and grafted onto the soils of Méntrida to enjoy it with all its nuances.
Ideal for consumption within the natural year, although it can be enjoyed for another year without diminishing its numerous virtues. After manual harvest in 20 kg boxes, the grapes are kept refrigerated at 4ºC before vatting.
It is made through direct pressing. It ferments spontaneously in 800-liter clay eggs. Bodegas Arrayán seeks the expression of terroir from different varieties. For this, they practice ecological viticulture, respectful of the environment, without using herbicides or insecticides, favoring biodiversity and balance. These wines are made from vineyards located in Sta. Cruz del Retamar, Toledo, under the DOP Méntrida, and other old vineyards in nearby localities of the provinces of Toledo and Ávila (Cebreros), belonging to the Sierra de Gredos. Situated on sandy, granite and slate soils at different altitudes. There are old vineyards of Albillo and Garnacha, which are the local varieties of Méntrida and generally of the entire Sierra de Gredos, and more recent plantings of other grapes on the estate. The climate is continental with cold winters and hot summers. The acclimatization of the old vines to the terrain and the altitude at which they are found is fundamental to extend the vegetative cycle and favor slower ripening.
