Hito

The Red Wine Hito from Bodega Cepa 21 is a 100% Tempranillo wine that belongs to the D.O. Ribera del Duero. It is made from a selection of grapes from the lower parts of the winery’s vineyards, fermented at controlled temperature in steel tanks for 30 days and has an aging of 8 months in French oak barrels. Hito is a wine from Bodega Cepa 21, which was born from the experience accumulated over many years by the brothers Javier and Jose Moro from Bodegas Emilio Moro, which is one of the most representative and emblematic wineries of Ribera del Duero. In this new and ambitious project, the Moro brothers seek to unite the construction of a modern, minimalist and functional winery with the wisdom accumulated over generations to produce wines of modern style, and in this new venture they wanted to bring together some of their best friends and make them participants in the exciting sensations that come with belonging to and living closely in the wine world. The word “HITO” means stone post, sometimes carved, that serves to indicate direction or distance on roads or to delimit terrain. The red wine Hito is born as a young wine to complete the range of a modern and innovative winery. Made with the youngest vineyards of the winery, grafted with Tinto Fino clones from the most emblematic vineyards of Bodegas Emilio Moro. The history of the Moro family has been written since 1932 as a three-generation project rooted in Ribera del Duero and dedicated to discovering the characteristics of their terroir to transmit them in wines with personality. Currently Bodegas Emilio Moro owns 200 hectares of vineyards, most of which are located in the surroundings of Pesquera de Duero, the birthplace of the winery’s founder, in the heart of Ribera del Duero.
