Pío del Ramo presents us with the Red Wine Alont from the Denomination of Origin Jumilla (Spain), made from the Monastrell grape variety. This wine comes from certified organic vineyards, aged between 20 and 40 years, located on calcareous and sandy soils for Syrah and Monastrell, and slightly more clayey for Cabernet Sauvignon. Organic viticulture guarantees environmentally respectful cultivation and exceptional quality grapes.
The production of Red Wine Alont focuses on selecting the best barrels from each vintage, offering a wine without haste and in its due time. It is a classic-style wine, adapted to the Mediterranean climate of the region, with cold winters, hot summers and scarce rainfall.
The harvest is manual, with careful selection of grapes both in the field and at the winery.
Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature in wooden vats, with approximately 20 days of maceration. Subsequently, aging takes place for 15 months in new and second-year French and American oak barrels, finishing with 6 months in concrete tanks, which enhances the pure expression of Monastrell. On tasting, Alont shows an intense red color with violet reflections.
On the nose it offers complex aromas of ripe fruits, balsamic notes and light spicy touches.
On the palate it is structured, elegant, with silky tannins, good acidity and a long, enveloping finish. It is ideal to accompany roasted meats, traditional stews, aged cheeses and game dishes.
