Pío del Ramo presents the Bétola The Cat Wine Red Wine from the Denominación de Origen Protegida Jumilla (Spain), crafted from Monastrell and Syrah varieties, sourced from certified organic vineyards. These vineyards are established on sandy-loam limestone soils, poor in organic matter, ideal for limiting plant vigor and concentrating aromas and flavors in the grape. The vines are worked using double Royat cordon pruning, a system that promotes vegetative balance and allows for obtaining high-quality grapes.
The harvest takes place between late September and early October, when the grapes reach their optimal ripeness point, preserving freshness and varietal expression.
The winemaking of this wine is carried out with special care to preserve the fruity character.
Fermentation takes place with the skins at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, allowing for gentle extraction of color, aromas and tannins. For this wine, the winery selects grapes from the youngest vineyards, with the objective of crafting a fresh, expressive and easy-to-enjoy red wine. Once alcoholic fermentation is completed, the wine is stabilized without barrel aging, opting for a young and direct style, where fruit is the true protagonist. This approach allows showing the freshest and most Mediterranean identity of Jumilla, respecting the raw material and the winery’s organic philosophy to the maximum. In the glass, the Bétola The Cat Wine Red Wine presents a bright cherry red color with violet reflections.
On the nose, intense aromas of fresh red and black fruit stand out, such as cherries, raspberries and blackberries, accompanied by subtle spiced notes contributed by Syrah.
On the palate it is a balanced, flavorful and round wine, with soft tannins, good acidity and a pleasant and persistent finish. This young red wine is perfect for accompanying charcuterie, white meats, rice dishes, pasta, pizzas and tapas, as well as for enjoying in informal gatherings. An honest, organic wine with great personality, that faithfully reflects the character of the D.O.P. Jumilla and the modern style of Pío del Ramo.
