The Caecus Reserva Red Wine is crafted with 100% Tempranillo and belongs to the D.O.C Rioja. The winery’s history dates back generations, when a family of winemakers decided to settle in a privileged region for vine cultivation. Located in a valley surrounded by mountains, this winery has made the most of the ideal conditions for growing superior quality grapes. Over time, the winery has perfected its winemaking techniques and processes, combining tradition with innovation to create exceptional wines. Caecus Reserva is primarily crafted with a careful selection of grapes from the Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties. These grapes are grown in the winery’s own vineyards, where sustainable and environmentally respectful agricultural practices are applied. The combination of these two varieties brings complexity and balance to the wine, providing a robust structure and intense flavors.
The vineyards are located in Elciego, province of Alava, on the La Romañiguez estate and the wine is produced by Bodegas Pago de Larrea. Caecus Reserva is only made in the best vintages, after a careful selection process in the vineyard. Malolactic fermentation takes place in new barrels where it begins to acquire the complexity of its nuances. The months of aging in barrels with successive rackings and bottle maturation allow it to achieve its concentration, body and diversity of aromas. Its final step is aging, this wine has an aging of 20 months in barrels and subsequent maturation in bottle.
