Chivite Colección 125 Reserva

J. Chivite Family Estates presents the Red Wine Chivite Colección 125 Reserva. Finca Legardeta is located at the geographical limit for Tempranillo cultivation, being in fact the northern frontier for this variety. At Legardeta, Tempranillo occupies a medium altitude and is planted on soils that are not too fertile, which serve as the starting point for obtaining balanced vegetation, controlled production, and medium-small sized clusters and berries. Furthermore, the special climatic conditions allow this variety to ripen to perfection, without over-ripening and maintaining optimal acidity values to produce wines with character, freshness, and aging potential. Colección 125 Reserva comes from the selection of the best Tempranillo plots from Finca Legardeta, which are carefully hand-harvested in small 200 kg containers. Subsequently in the winery, the grapes are selected and vatted by gravity in 20,000 kg stainless steel tanks, where the wine ferments at controlled temperature. During this process, gentle extraction through manual pump-overs is fundamental. Once malolactic fermentation is completed, the wine is conducted by gravity to French oak barrels where it will remain, depending on the vintage characteristics, between 15 and 18 months. Colección 125 first reached the market in 1985 to commemorate 125 years since the first export by Chivite winery in 1860. This red wine comes from the selection of the best Tempranillo plots from Finca Legardeta located in Navarra. Thanks to its geographical location and the influence of Atlantic and Continental climates, the result is an exceptional wine, recognized with 94 points by Guía Peñín. J. The excellent vine cultivation takes place mainly at the renowned Finca Legardeta, located 40 km from Pamplona, right where Atlantic and Continental climates converge. Currently, the estate occupies 103 hectares of vineyard, which, perfectly integrated into the ecosystem of native scrubland and woodland, and due to climatic conditions, results in slow and complete grape ripening that shapes the profile of Chivite’s product range with quality, freshness, and elegance.
