Cau dels Penitents

Vins Família Ferrer presents us with the White Wine Cau dels Penitents, originating from the lands of Alto Penedés (Spain) made from the Macabeo grape variety. White Wine Cau dels Penitents is produced in the vineyards of La Freixeneda; here the climate is Mediterranean, with average annual precipitation. The estate, located in Alt Penedés, has more than 200 hectares of vineyard, where sustainable viticulture is practiced. There is minimal intervention in their vineyards, which are separated by different sections between 350 and 715 meters in altitude. The White Wine Cau dels Penitents is fermented and aged in 500-liter acacia barrels for 12 months with its lees. The second vintage of this wine was affected by a heat wave; forcing them to reduce the harvest by 35%, only selecting the most balanced grapes. Only 1800 bottles of wine were produced. The White Wine Cau dels Penitents is ideal to drink as an aperitif, to accompany pasta, rice or with fish. It can be consumed between 8º – 10ºC.
