Red Wine Secastilla Bodegas Viñas del Vero takes its name from a river in the Somontano region. Viñas del Vero was established in the Denominación de Origen Somontano at the end of 1986 with the acquisition of 550 hectares of land in Barbastro and other nearby towns. Bodegas Viñas de Vero is the first winery in the Denominación de Origen Somontano by volume and quality of production. The company has 1,100 hectares of vineyard and produces 6.5 million bottles per year. Red Wine Secastilla is marketed by Bodegas González Byass. Bodegas González Byass was founded in 1835, currently owns 1,844 hectares of vineyard distributed throughout Spain and its wine production satisfies national and international palates. Red Wine Secastilla has a Denominación de Origen Somontano, has been made 100% with Garnacha grape variety, this wine has aged for 10 months in oak barrels. Red Wine Secastilla is a single varietal Garnacha, from very old vines planted in the Secastilla valley. Viñas del Vero uses mostly organic fertilizers such as manures and compost.
The harvest is done manually, with a first selection of grapes in the vineyard itself and a second on a selection table.
The grapes are destemmed and vatted with refrigeration.
Fermentation occurs at a temperature below 25ºC and lasts for 15 days.
