O Luar do Sil Godello

The project of Bodega Pago de los Capellanes in the D.O. Valdeorras is the search for new paths and the attraction to achieve great white wines. Pago de los Capellanes founded its new winery O Luar do Sil in Seadur (Valdeorras) in 2014. With this winery, the Rodero Villa family fulfilled their dream of producing a white wine with their 100% philosophy, a special, complex and intense wine with long aging potential. Luar do Sil Godellos is a white wine that seeks to show the purity of the Valdeorras area, a very mineral valley with small vineyards on the slopes with granite soils that provide a minerality that enhances the intensity of the Godello grape. Old vineyard located at 450m altitude in the municipality of Seadur in the province of Orense. These vineyards require extreme dedication due to the physical conditions imposed by the terrain, very small plots on steep slopes that can only be worked by hand, caring for each vine individually on terraces and carrying out a heroic and manual harvest that tests the most experienced viticulturists, all to achieve the intense and mineral character of Godello. This wine is the faithful reflection of what the landscape of the Valdeorras area is, seeking its most sincere production and the most expansive and jovial entry of the trendy white variety: Godello. The result is purity, freshness, character, clarity and life. The name of this wine, O Luar do Sil, conveys the charm of the moon in the waters of the Sil river, the great river of Valdeorras. O Luar de Sil Godello is produced in a totally artisanal way, after manual harvest and meticulous grape selection on a sorting table, the grapes are completely destemmed. Once the temperature is lowered to 9°C, it rests for 4 hours in the macerators. From there it goes to the press and with gentle crushing, first quality must is obtained. This must ferments in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Once fermentation is finished, the lees are separated from the wine and it rests for a few months until bottling. This wine is of limited production and usually sells out quickly as it is one of the emblems of Bodega Pago de los Capellanes, so we recommend not missing the opportunity to try it while it’s available, it will surprise you!
